Addressing Impact of Encampment Bans on Homelessness in Nowport Beach
Home Again Project
This Community Awareness Project aims to address the recent ban on homeless encampments in Newport Beach, California, effective October 10, 2024. Our project seeks to raise awareness about the repercussions of this ban, including the criminalization of homelessness and its unsustainable nature as a long-term solution.
By engaging with key stakeholders such as the Orange County Rescue Mission (OCRM), Newport Beach City Council, Newport Beach Police Department (NBPD), and local organizations like Skyview, we will conduct comprehensive research, propose policy amendments, and take action to support the homeless community.
The project will culminate in the creation of a magazine issue and documentary to educate the public and encourage student participation in addressing this critical issue.
